Lowe’s Motor Speedway is now, as expected, Charlotte Motor Speedway once again.

The process of changing signs at the track has begun, track spokesman Scott Cooper said Monday.

Lowe’s naming rights, which were worth $35 million over 10 years, ran out after the 2008 season and then were extended a year through 2009. Lowe’s, which announced in August that it would not extend the deal, will remain a corporate partner with the track and parent company Speedway Motorsports Inc., Cooper said.

“We are now Charlotte Motor Speedway,” Cooper said. “We are moving forward in our 51st year, just as we began our first. Our focus is to continuing to be the most fan-friendly speedway in the world.”

The track naming-rights deal was the first for a major NASCAR speedway. Other tracks that have followed in selling their naming rights were Sears Point Raceway to Infineon Technologies and California Speedway to the AAA Automobile Club of Southern California.
