Joey Logano, whose season has been a struggle, led the second round of practice Friday for Sunday’s STP 400 Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway.

Logano had a fast lap of 170.175 mph in the 90-minute session.

Logano has only two top-10 finishes this year and is 23rd in points as the regular season reaches its halfway point Sunday.

Following Logano in the practice session were Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, Mark Martin and Paul Menard, who turned in his fastest lap in the final minute of the session.

Logano, Gordon and Vickers were the only drivers over the 170 barrier.

Point leader Carl Edwards was eighth.

Greg Biffle led Friday’s first practice.

STP 400 qualifying is scheduled at noon Saturday.
