Logano, the 19-year-old in his sophomore season of NASCAR Sprint Cup racing, cranked off a best lap of 124.114 miles per hour in his No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.

Second-fast on the session was the No. 17 Roush Fenway Racing Ford of Matt Kenseth, who ran 123.961 mph. Then came the Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolets of Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson, with Kasey Kahne completing the top five in his Richard Petty Motorsports Ford.

The second five consisted of Juan Pablo Montoya, Martin Truex Jr. Scott Speed, Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon.

There were plenty of incidents during the session, as Bobby Labonte, Johnson and Kyle Busch all spun out, with Labonte hitting the wall, while Johnson and Busch emerged unscathed.

Qualifying begins today at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live on SPEED.
