Kyle Busch led every lap to capture the first of four 25-lap segments in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race XXIV at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Busch took off from the pole in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, opening a 0.621-second lead on his brother, Kurt, on the first lap.

On Lap 3, the first contact of the race occurred when Sam Hornish Jr., the second-place finisher in the Sprint Showdown, bounced off the wall, but the track remained green.

Greg Biffle took over the second spot on Lap 5, bringing his Roush Fenway Racing Ford past Kurt Busch’s Penske Dodge. But by that time, Kyle Busch already had a huge lead of 1.656 seconds.

At the 13-lap mark, just past halfway in the segment, Busch’s lead was 2.151 seconds over Biffle, Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Jeff Gordon and Martin Truex Jr.
