Kasey Kahne finished fifth in the Sprint Showdown, but won the fan vote, earning the 24th and final starting spot in the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race XXIV at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Twenty-one drivers were prequalified for the All-Star race based on prior race victories and two other drivers, AJ Allmendinger and Sam Hornish Jr., raced their way in by taking the top two spots in the Sprint Showdown last-chance race.

Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge, prevailed in the fan vote. Sprint officials did not release the number of votes cast or the finishing order behind Kahne.
