5. MATT KENSETH, 18 — Kenseth won the 2003 series championship and the first two races of 2009. His rain-shortened Daytona 500 victory was the biggest triumph of his career, although he faded down the stretch and failed to make the Chase for the first time in his career.

6. DALE EARNHARDT JR. 18 — Earnhardt had the most victories this decade of any driver who didn’t win a series championship. Always at home on restrictor-plate tracks, Earnhardt won seven points races at Daytona and Talladega.

7. KYLE BUSCH, 16 — What’s most impressive about Busch’s victory total was that it was accomplished in just five full seasons of Cup racing. His breakout year came in 2008, his first season with Joe Gibbs Racing, when he won eight points races.

8. CARL EDWARDS, 16 — The Missouri native has the same number of victories as Kyle Busch, although Busch has earned his in seven fewer starts. Edwards had a remarkable 2008 season, winning a series-high nine races en route to a second-place points finish.

9. GREG BIFFLE, 14 — The former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series champion nearly added a Cup title in 2005, when he finished a mere 35 points behind Stewart.

10. RYAN NEWMAN, 13 — Newman will always be remembered for his stirring 2008 Daytona 500 victory, when he got a last-lap push from teammate Kurt Busch to win.
