Jimmie Johnson added to his resume Wednesday. The Hendrick Motorsports driver is now a four-time Cup champion and a father.

Johnson’s wife, Chandra, gave birth to the couple’s first child and both mother and daughter are doing well, according to a team spokesman.

Johnson was prepared to miss a race for the birth of his daughter and had Aric Almirola on standby the last two weeks. Johnson is the third driver to become a first-time father on the Cup circuit this year, joining Carl Edwards and Elliott Sadler.

The wives of Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon and Jamie McMurray are all expecting later this year.

The couple has not announced the name of the child.
