Jamie McMurray became a father on Thanksgiving Day as his wife, Christy, gave birth Thursday morning to their son.

Carter Scott McMurray was born at 8:34 a.m. He weighted 7 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Christy is doing fine, according to an Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team spokesman.

Not only is McMurray one of several members of the EGR team to welcome a baby this year, he is also one of several Cup drivers whose wives have given birth in 2010 – among them are Carl Edwards, Elliott Sadler, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Juan Pablo Montoya and Ryan Newman.

In addition to the birth of the boy, McMurray had a successful season on the track as well. He won three of the biggest races of the season – the Daytona 500, Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
