Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick and Stewart-Haas Racing owner Tony Stewart confirmed that their organizations will be receiving less manufacturer support from General Motors as the auto manufacturer is currently reorganizing into a new company through the Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection process.

Hendrick fields the NASCAR Sprint Cup teams of Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Stewart-Haas has two Cup teams, with drivers Stewart and Ryan Newman.

Chevrolet executives have been meeting with teams this week to talk about the future of the auto manufacturer's support of NASCAR teams.

“We had very productive conversations this week with the folks at General Motors, and it’s clear they are committed to racing and committed to our organization,” Hendrick said in a statement. “They’ve asked us for some help, and we’re going to give it to them. We’re proud to be a Chevy team, and we will do our part to support the new GM both on and off the race track.”

Stewart also confirmed cuts.

“While this cutback will force us to review our budget at SHR, it will not impact our preparation for the track or the return on investment we provide to our partners,” Stewart said in a statement. “We’re racers, and racers find a way to make things work.”
