Branden Loock from South Weber, Utah, is the winner of the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge “Ride Shotgun” sweepstakes and will ride next to Kevin Harvick as Harvick performs his burnout for the competition at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 22.

The Third Annual Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge will be televised live at 6:15 p.m. ET during SPEED’s pre-race coverage prior to the NASCAR Sprint Showdown and NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Described as NASCAR’s version of a “slam-dunk” contest, the Victory Challenge allows NASCAR’s top talent to show off their post-win burnout celebration abilities in classic tire-smoking-donut style.

Pennzoil and NASCAR presented the first Victory Challenge in 2008, and the annual event has rapidly become a fan favorite.

“It’s hard to put into words how excited I am,” said Loock. “I have been a huge NASCAR fan for most of my life, and just to have the opportunity to go to the All-Star Race is unbelievable. To be involved with the Pennzoil Ultra Victory Challenge and to ride with Kevin Harvick makes it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s something that I can hardly believe, and I still can’t put into words.”

Loock was randomly selected from over 12,000 fans who entered the sweepstakes to ride shotgun with Harvick, the defending champion of last year’s Pennzoil Victory Challenge.

In addition to winning at Talladega late last Month, Harvick is the current NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader.

Over the past two years, the Victory Challenge has become a star-studded event with celebrity judges, NASCAR's top drivers and interactive fan involvement. The 2010 event panel of six judges includes Carolina Panthers All-Pro wide receiver Steve Smith; lead singer Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti from the hit rock-band CREED; TNA Wrestling star Jeff Hardy; and former NASCAR driver Jimmy Spencer.

Similar to 2009, the judges will score the drivers’ creativity in a 30-second freestyle burnout. This year, however, drivers will be able to increase their score by earning bonus points for knocking down strategically placed obstacles. The driver with the most points, including the creativity score from the judges and any bonus points, will be declared the winner, and $10,000 will be awarded to a charity of his choice.

Seven Cup drivers will compete in stock cars identically prepared by the NASCAR Racing Experience. Drivers confirmed to burn rubber in the 2010 competition include: Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, David Reutimann, Jaime McMurray and Joey Logano.

“Victory burnouts remind us of the exhilaration drivers can feel when their car’s engine is running clean with Pennzoil Ultra. It takes a clean-running engine to make it to Victory Lane, and that is why Pennzoil Ultra is proud to be the title sponsor of this great event,” said Debbie Van Schalkwyk, Pennzoil Global Brand Manager. “The event is a perfect fit for All-Star weekend and has become very popular with the fans. Once again we have a stellar group of drivers and celebrity judges lined up to determine this year’s king of burnouts, as well as some new elements to make it more exciting than ever.”
