With NASCAR set to announce its first 25 Hall of Fame nominees tonight at 8 p.m. on SPEED, Sprint Cup drivers are interested to see who’s going to be included in the class.

SPEED will air an exclusive one-hour special Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET from the site of the new NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., as NASCAR unveils the 25 nominees for the inaugural class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

NASCAR’s Hall of Fame will open in downtown Charlotte, N.C., on May 11, 2010. Five of the 25 nominees will be members of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Class of 2010.

The new facility will feature, among other things:

• Some 40,000 square feet of exhibit space showcasing the history and heritage of the sport.

• A 270-seat theater.

• The Glory Road, a banked
ramp leading to the second floor of the facility featuring 15-18 historic cars and highlighting 40 current and historic tracks.

• A Hall of Honor where the NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees will be honored.

• A full-size transporter simulator, giving visitors a first-hand look at the team's nerve-center at the track.

• A state-of-the-art racing simulator attraction giving visitors a driver's experience and perspective on race day.

• A restaurant and retail outlets.

• Television and radio studios and NASCAR newsroom.

The new facility will be a major step forward for NASCAR, with the sport’s biggest legends to be enshrined there.

And several of the drivers at Daytona International Speedway for Saturday’s Coke Zero 400 said they have strong opinions about how the Hall of Fame selection process should be handled.
