While some might assume that NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers would jump at the chance for a vacation getaway this weekend, several of those seem to be content just to have a little time with their families.

Asked about their off weekend plans, many of the Cup drivers said they planned to spend Easter weekend at home - or making a short trip with their families. Six are obviously competing in the Nationwide Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, but the rest were looking forward to having time to just relax.

The Cup season is just seven weeks old, and has already included an off weekend, but it's been intense and competitive.

One might think that points leader and most recent race winner Jeff Gordon would want to keep racing, to keep the momentum going for he and his Hendrick Motorsports team. But Gordon seems happy to be having a little down time with his family.

"No plans," he said. "Just staying home and going to relax with Ingrid and Ella. I’m looking forward to that very much."

He says that he's also looking forward to Easter with his daughter.

"She loves bunnies," he said. "Anything that has to do with bunnies she’s going to have fun with that.”

Richard Petty Motorsports' AJ Allmendinger also planned to take it easy. He just had his Cup scheduled extended through the season's 26th race and was looking forward to relaxing with his wife, Lynne.

"Lynne and I aren’t doing a thing this weekend," he said. "We’ve been gone every weekend since before Daytona so this weekend we are just going to hang out around the house. Lynne has family and I have some friends coming over and we are just going to have fun. It will be nice to take a break from racing for a while.

"But I’m sure after a couple of days I’ll be ready to go again.”
