The Sprint Cup season has started well for Dale Earnhardt Jr., but he’s far from satisfied, as he shared with reporters Friday at Richmond International Raceway.

He’s still looking for the first win of the season, one that would end a winless streak that has rolled past the century mark.

Earnhardt Jr. got the weekend off to a good start early Friday afternoon by leading the day’s first practice session for Saturday’s Crown Royal 400 with a speed of 125.465 mph. He edged Carl Edwards, who was clocked at 125.313.

Following in the top 10 were Clint Bowyer, Paul Menard, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Mark Martin, Kurt Busch and Jeff Gordon.

A second round of practice is scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m. ET Friday. Qualifying is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
