CUP: Country Stars, Racers Team Up Again

Once again, the stars of NASCAR and some of country music’s leading artists are joining forces for a two-day fan event in Nashville.

The Fifth Annual Sprint Sound & Speed Presented By SunTrust is scheduled for Jan. 8-9 in Nashville, with a lineup that includes Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, Greg Biffle, Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, Carl Edwards, Clint Bowyer, Michael Waltrip and other NASCAR stars.

On the evening of Jan. 8, there will be live country music shows on the historic Opry’s Ryman Auditorium stage at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Featured performers will include Hank Williams Jr. (9:30 p.m. show only), Danny Gokey, Jason Michael Carroll (7 p.m. show only) Chris Young, a special performance from NASCAR’s Kyle Petty and his band, as well as addition artists t/b/a.

On Jan. 9 at 9 a.m. in Nashville's Municipal Auditorium, racing and country music fans can participate in autograph, story-telling and question-and-answer sessions with drivers, team owners and top-name artists. Included are show-car and sponsor displays and a charitable auction with memorabilia from the racing and entertainment industries.

Tickets for the Opry at the Ryman shows on Jan. 8 (from $42 to $54) and the festival on Jan. 9 ($20 for adults and $15 for children) are on sale via TicketMaster (ticketmaster.com) and opry.com.
