Landon Cassill will attempt to make his Sprint Cup debut in the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Cassill will drive the No. 09 car for Phoenix Racing and will be one of 10 drivers vying for seven spots in the field.

There are 46 entries, with 35 being locked in and the Wood Brothers Racing’s Bill Elliott having a past champion’s provisional available if he needs to use one.

Michael Waltrip will drive the No. 55 Prism Motorsports car typically driven by Michael McDowell, who will be in Kentucky for the Nationwide Series race.

Waltrip and Cassill will have to qualify on speed as will Robby Gordon Motorsports’ Robby Gordon, Germain Racing’s Max Papis, Latitude 43 Motorsports’ David Stremme, Tommy Baldwin Racing’s Johnny Sauter, Whitney Motorsports’ J.J. Yeley, Gunselman Motorsports’ Todd Bodine, Prism’s Dave Blaney and Nemco Motorsports’ Joe Nemechek.

Gordon could end up being locked in depending on any penalties issued to the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports team, which had its valve stem caps confiscated by NASCAR following the race. With an 84-point cushion on Gordon, the Front Row team and driver Travis Kvapil would end up having to qualify on speed if it gets a 100-point penalty and chooses not to appeal.
