NASCAR championship team owner Rick Hendrick will miss today’s season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway due to a family medical emergency.

Alesha Gainey, 29, the daughter of Rick’s late brother John, is in critical condition in Charlotte awaiting an emergency liver transplant.

“Rick wishes he could be here, and is incredibly proud of his teams,” said Hendrick Motorsports General Manager Marshall Carlson. “Rick’s priority is supporting his family at this critical time.”
