Roush Fenway Racing plans on testing Trevor Bayne at Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park next week prior to his return to NASCAR racing.

Bayne has missed the last three Nationwide Series races because of fatigue, nausea and blurred vision stemming from an inflammatory condition.

The organization hopes he’s back next week to drive for the Wood Brothers in the Sprint All-Star Race and Roush Fenway in the Nationwide Series event at Iowa Speedway.

The 20-year-old Daytona 500 winner has not raced since the Cup event April 24 at Talladega Superspeedway.

“I can’t say definitely [he’ll return next week] because I don’t have the right pay grade and education for that, but he is making progress and his symptoms are by-and-large gone,” team co-owner Jack Roush said Saturday at Dover International Speedway.

“His blurred vision is by-and-large gone but we are going to take him to Gresham in Georgia to give him some laps to see if he is comfortable and then report back to the doctors and NASCAR to see what they think.”

Roush said he was not sure exactly which day Bayne will test at Gresham.
