Among the 46 entries for Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 at Phoenix International Raceway are Aric Almirola, who will drive the Richard Petty Motorsports No. 9 car, and Brendan Gaughan, who will drive for TRG Motorsports.

Gaughan will have one of the 35 locked-in positions by virtue of owner points for the No. 71 entry. Bobby Labonte (Phoenix Racing) is the first non-guaranteed driver eligible for a past champion’s provisional. If he is able to make the 43-car field based on his qualifying time, Terry Labonte (Whitney Motorsports) will have access to it, with Bill Elliott (Latitude 43 Motorsports) eligible for the provisional as well should Terry Labonte get in on speed.

Terry Labonte and Elliott are two of the 10 drivers vying for the final seven spots in the field. The others are Casey Mears (Germain Racing), Dave Blaney (Tommy Baldwin Racing) Travis Kvapil (Front Row Motorsports), Mike Bliss (Prism Motorsports), Michael McDowell (Whitney Motorsports), Landon Cassill (Gunselman Motorsports), Jason Leffler (Prism) and Joe Nemechek (Nemco Motorsports).
