FRENCH FRIES AND GRAVY. REALLY? – Speedway Motorsports tracks shared some of their most unusual concessions fare with journalists during Tuesday’s tour. Many of the items perhaps should have warning labels. They include jalapeno and bacon hushpuppies; bacon cotton candy; a doughnut topped with barbecue, onion strings, cheese and coleslaw; and French fries smothered in brown gravy and topped with cheese curds, bacon, tomatoes, onions and jalapeno peppers.

LIGHTING THEM UP – New Hampshire Motor Speedway announced Tuesday afternoon that Sylvania has extended its race sponsorship with the track through 2017. The agreement will stretch Sylvania’s relationship with the track to 15 years.

GEN-SIX WISH LIST – How will the progress of the new Gen-Six Sprint Cup car be measured? “By lead changes, by how it races, by how the drivers feel about it,” said NASCAR chairman Brian France.

Daytona Unveiling ‘Grand Vision’ - Changes at Daytona International Speedway could include a revamped frontstretch area, new suite and press box areas, improved seating and concourses.

WET AND DRY – NASCAR chairman Brian France said new track-drying system could trim drying time from two and one-half hours at Daytona to 30 minutes and to 15 minutes at Martinsville.

TITLE TIME? – Michael Waltrip’s goals for 2013 after a sensational leap forward in 2012? “We want to race for the championship with at least two of our three cars,” Waltrip said. MWR driver Clint Bowyer finished second last year.

QUICK START?Kurt Busch, who joined Furniture Row Racing late in 2012, finished the season with a three-race run of top-10 finishes, giving the team some solid background for the start of 2013. “It’s great seeing this team come together in the fashion it has,” Busch said. “It was great to have those six weeks to get team communication up and to feel comfortable.”

JUNIOR AND THE KING – Rounding out Monday night’s activities was the announcement that Dale Earnhardt Jr. has joined Richard Petty as a spokesman for Goody’s pain relievers. Petty has worked with Goody’s for 37 years. The arrival of Earnhardt Jr. gives the company two of the sport’s most popular participants.
