Thursday night at Bobcats Arena in Charlotte, NASCAR Sprint Cup crewmen got to show off their considerable talents in the Sprint Pit Crew Challenge.

In addition to the team championship, which was won by the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing squad, the individual skills competition crowned five new champions:

Jack Man: Nate Bolling, No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing, 5.573 seconds.
Gas Man: Brad Pickens, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports, 10.518.
Catch-Can Man: Travis Gordon, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports, 10.518.
Front-Tire Changer: Nick O’Dell, No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing, 13.903.
Front-Tire Carrier: Brad Donaghy, No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing, 13.903.
Rear-Tire Changer: Dustin Necaise, No. 33 Richard Childress Racing, 14.322.
Rear-Tire Carrier: Matt Kreuter, No. 33 Richard Childress Racing, 14.322.

While all the performances were impressive, O’Dell set a record for total number of victories in this competition. He has earned three individual champion titles as front-tire changer (2007, 2008, 2010) and is a two-time team champion (2005, 2006). Joining O’Dell as a repeat winner was his front-tire carrier Brad Donaghy, adding a second individual title to his record (2008, 2010).

For all the winners, it was a great night. For O’Dell, it was a record-breaking one.

“You’ve got to have luck on your side,” said O’Dell. “I’m fortunate to work for a good organization who’s behind us 110 percent and it’s definitely an honor to be sitting up here.”

O’Dell was duly appreciative of his accomplishments.

“I was tickled to death when I won one, so to win three (individual titles) is just unbelievable,” he said. “It still probably won’t even sink in until later this week.”
