David Ragan was the fastest of 27 drivers setting times in Friday’s lone Sprint Showdown practice round at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Ragan lapped the 1.5-mile CMS track at 188.403 miles per hour in his No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford. Second-fast was Jeff Burton, 187.780 mph in the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet.

Burton’s teammate, Paul Menard, was next at 187.526 mph. Another pair of teammates, AJ Allmendinger and Marcos Ambrose of Richard Petty Motorsports, completed the top five.

Brad Keselowski was sixth, followed by Travis Kvapil, Joey Logano, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brian Vickers.

The top two finishers in tomorrow night’s race will advance to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race. Both events will be live on SPEED tomorrow night, starting at 7 p.m.
